Don’t quit your daydream

Posted on: September 18th, 2017

We hear it all the time when we’re kids – what do you want to be when you grow up? We’re encouraged to strive for whatever makes our hearts content without thinking about logic or practicality.

Then something changes; soon artists, writers, designers, and dreamers are inundated with the notion that you must follow a traditional path, leading to a “safe” job. The creatives lose their dreams as they’re rerouted into a conventional journey to a four-year college that spits them into a world of business. And this world isn’t a bad one, but it’s not your world.

Well guess what – if you’re a creative artist with a passion for beauty, you not only can but should pursue your daydream, no matter where you are in life. Let’s reignite that childhood spark and tell the world, “hey, I CAN make an incredible living do what I love.” So take that, world.

Take Janice, for example. Janice came to us upon completing her four-year degree, after eight arduous years in good old corporate America. While this was a great path for many of her peers, it wasn’t hers. Through each year of education and working, she knew it wasn’t right; while everyone else was settling into their career, she didn’t feel the same way. The nagging feeling of settling didn’t sit well with her. But she was already almost a decade into working, surely it was too late for a career switch…

Or was it?

Janice turned that unrelenting feeling into action and decided to turn her passion and hobby into an actual career that wasn’t settling. Now, she not only makes money doing what she loves, but she has an excitement and spark in her life that she had been missing for so long.

What’s the biggest takeaway? Without trying to sound like a cliched motivational poster, it’s never too late to take a chance on yourself, because guess what? If you don’t, nobody else will. Don’t let life get in the way of what you love – just because a traditional path is right for some people, it doesn’t mean it’s right for you.

Seriously girls and guys – this is your LIFE. Take control of it, and guess what? You’ll not only make your life a million times brighter, but you’ll make the world more beautiful while you’re at it.
