Cosmetology School Is Not Out Of Reach

While we are not screaming that statement from the rooftops, we probably should. After all, it’s important, but most people don’t know it.
The biggest things that keeps people from pursuing their dreams of becoming a cosmetologist are financial roadblocks.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
No matter if you are living paycheck to paycheck, or simply don’t have enough in savings, you can make your cosmetology dreams come true thanks to some of the many options that we have available at Educators of Beauty.

Beauty school financial aid

Federal Financial Aid

We are proud to be able to offer financial aid to students who qualify. As an accredited school approved by the United States Department of Education, we are able to offer Title VI funds to our students. Known as financial aid or student loans to much of the public, the government offers several different types of aid to students.

    • Federal Direct Subsidized Loans

These loans operate much the same way as standard loans. However, while you are enrolled in school, or while the loans are in deferment, the interest is paid by the federal government. This can be a huge help once you begin paying on your loans as the amount owed could be greatly reduced. However, an approved student can only borrow so much of these types of loans, which makes it important to speak to a financial advisor and borrow wisely.

    • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans

Different than the subsidized loans, these loans have no assistance from the federal government with the interest being the full responsibility of the student. While that can impact the repayment later, you can make payments on all of these loans while you are in school, decreasing your overall interest and repayment amount.

    • Federal Direct PLUS Loans

PLUS loans are federal loans that are taken out by the parents of dependant undergraduate students. If you are under 18 and your parents are interested in helping pay for your school, this is an option that you should look into.

    • Pell Grants

Different than loans, the Federal Pell Grant is distributed to qualifying students based on need, in varying amounts per year. Although this grant does have a lifetime gap, it does not need to be repaid, meaning that depending on the qualifying amount you could see a significant amount of your schooling cost paid for.

How to Apply for Federal Student Aid

apply for beauty school

Once you have decided to attend the beauty school of your dreams, there are a few steps you should take to prepare for your first day and get all of your financial aid in place.

      • Sit Down With an Advisor

Once you have applied for your chosen school make sure to schedule a time to sit down with the financial aid advisor. Even if you feel confident in your knowledge of financial aid, it is important to meet with your advisor and make sure everything is completed and in place. This can help to make sure you will not only get the full amount of aid possible, but that there is no issue that will cause a delay in your start date.

      • Meet the Requirements

As with most things, there are qualifications that you need to meet before you can apply for financial aid. These may be different than the qualification to apply for your school of choice, so be aware of the differences to avoid any pitfalls.
